Demolition of River Park Apartments

In 2006, the Highland Redevelopment Commission assisted the Hammond Redevelopment Commission with the demolition of the former River Park Apartment site through a $1.75 million dollar loan. The engineering firm, Amereco, Inc. was in charge of the environmental remediation and demolition of the site.

The Hammond Redevelopment Commission issued a Request for Qualifications and a Request for Proposals to redevelop this site. They are currently in negogiations with a development firm for two hotels to be built on the property. Hammond has also prepared the site with a road, lighting and sidewalks throughout the site.
