The Highland Redevelopment Commission developed a vision for the Redevelopment District in 2006. That vision allows for a comprehensive approach to growth, giving the community an opportunity to look at all of the elements and put the pieces together in a systematic manner. The adopted standards and guidelines will address the past impact and potential future impacts of current building and development practices. The goals of the Plan will be:

a. to create a positive town image through well designed, high quality development
b. to increase jobs and generate tax revenues through new development
c. to assist in the development of business opportunities for all
d. to generate private investment in the Redevelopment District
e. to increase corridor neighborhoods through increased well planned economic opportunities
f. to aid in the elimination of incomplete or inappropriate land use

The Plan will address the following areas: transportation, land use, streetscape, economics, and implementation and enforcement.

The Redevelopment Commission requested the assistance of members of the community and the business district to participate in an Oversight Committee to assist with the planning process. We appreciate their willingness to help the Commission with this effort. The Committee includes the following people:
