Come home to Highland!
HIGHLAND NIXLE ALERTS
KEEPING YOU INFORMED
Realizing the value of communicating to the community in real time, Police Chief Pete Hojnicki and Fire Chief Bill Timmer banded together to bring the Nixle emergency system to Highland.
That was in 2009. Today the popular system provides up-to-the-minute information on weather emergencies, road closures, even crimes-in-progress.
Nixle is a secure system that is provided at no-cost and is customizable to smart phones via text and email. Hojnicki is encouraging residents, who haven’t yet accessed the system, to register for the alerts.
“It has never been easier to be in-the-know about up-to-the minute developments,” he said. “This is the quickest way we know to be able to keep our residents informed
about situations that affect them.”
According to the company, Nixle is the first of its kind – a standardized, secure and certified communication platform created for local police departments, municipalities and their agencies to communicate important, neighborhood-level information to residents.
From Los Angeles to Virginia Beach, more than 3,000 public safety and community agencies throughout the United States have begun using Nixle since the company launched the service in March 2009.
